So I finally dived into our shed and dragged out all our clothes in storage...
Confession time - I'm a clothes hoarder. Some people collect stamps, some people collect magnets, some people even collect scrap booking stuff. I collect clothes.
I think its a combination of saving money, and also reminiscing on the memories of the older kids wearing clothes that their younger brother or sister now fits.
I have clothes in good condition that Livia and Callum wore, even stuff Jaidon used to wear!
I never really had a system going. I actually used to get rid of all baby clothes (I had to buy all new clothes for Silas and Kaydence as I had given away all the smaller baby clothes thinking we wouldn't have any more babies!)
I used to go through the kids wardrobes at the same time and chuck all the clothes into big storage bags. So they ended up being mixed girls/boys and various different sizes!!
I had one bag labelled boys size 2 - 12!! How practical is that??

But now I have a system in place :) Yay!! Above is all the boys/girls clothes in boxes grouped in sizes ie Girls 1 & 2, Boy 3 & 4 so everything is now separated :) I was hoping to cull everything down to just one 55L box per sizing but I've got 2x girls 0000 - 000 boxes as I have both seasons, summer and winter clothes.......
I have another 8 or so boxes to sort into sizes then back off to the shed it all goes :)

Well done on the clothes sorting, that is a huge task. :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't hoard clothes but I find it hard to come up with a system to keep them all organised. I think I might have to take up a similar boxing system.
ReplyDeleteSystems are great! I love organization. I have a huge basement storage area that's a nightmare. Just the idea of trying to take it one stops me in my tracks. I look at you storage boxes and, well, maybe it doable ... maybe. I'm going to make it my August project of the month. Check back with me then. I might need a little arm twisting!
ReplyDeleteTherese @ Aussie Coffee Shop sent me over. She highlighted you on "Pay It Forward". Such a wonderful blog. I love the design, the photos and the info.
Blessings...
Very similar to my system, although I use shrink bags. I do confess though they leak and often no longer seal. I keep thinking I should consider the tubs when they are next on sale. I also hoard, but then this means we save! Mine live in the shipping container
ReplyDeleteI have the same system, I have used it for over 10 years and it has worked very well for us.
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Aussie Coffee Shop!
I used to have the kids' clothes organized by size. Then, a fast and furious run through the bins before a big move (Maryland to Alaska) while at the end of pregnancy left me with fewer bins containing a mixture of sizes. I need to get it back under control so I don't buy things I don't need.
ReplyDeleteVisiting compliments of Therese and her Pay it Forward post.

Such a lovely way to organise clothing for multiple kids. We've moved so often these two past box swaps have been the first time we've managed to do so effectively. I have one box per size per gender as I have (& need) so much. Definitely
ReplyDeletea money saver and time saver with lots of little kids.
