Swimming at the Quarry :)

So its been ages and ages since my last post. Life has been busy as per usual, and I've missed being able to read my blog, reflect on and enjoy the business :)

So jumping back into it with an extra ordinary splash, with some pics from the local  quarry we have just discovered!

We had been traveling to a quarry about 30mins away and are so excited to find out that there is an old quarry just a few suburbs away!

The water was cool and refreshing, and while swimming in quarries is not everyone's cup of tea, I like to take my older kids down for a swim and to jump off the cliffs into the water. The big boys are generally the daring ones and will jump while the girls, Silas and I like to swim and relax. We even go fishing here and catch Australian Bass, 5 are now our pets in the fish tank!

I'll have to get some action shots to share :)

WW - Wordless Wednesday

I was just browsing through the photos and came across this amazing one of Callum at Australia Zoo back in July 2010 - my mind boggles at the thought that its going on 2 years since we were there last!! Callum's favourite animal was/is the Red Panda so for his birthday he was given a Panda Experience at Australia Zoo - and it was well worth the price! So hands on and I was also lucky enough to be able to enter the exhibit with him and pat the pandas myself! They are soooooo soft, softer even then a Persian Cat......And they are so CUTE CUTE CUTE!!!

Happy 12th Birthday Callum!!

My first born son is 12 years old!! 12 YEARS!!! It barely seems like yesterday that I was in labour! I have to say that I am very, very lucky and blessed to have such a wonderful, handsome and caring son!! This year for his birthday he still wanted toys :) Halo figurines, so we went on a mission to Toys r Us to pick some out. He also got some money to go and purchase his own from the local toy store. I guess its good that he still enjoys the simple things and not expensive gadgets most tweens like!

Every birthday, depending when it falls (school night or not) we have a special dinner at home and also a night out at their favourite place to eat. This year we had San Choy Bau for our at home dinner (which Livia gracefully modelled for me) and we went to http://www.guzmanygomez.com/Menu/Tacos as Callum has a thing for Mexican food :) Its great that my kids will pretty much eat any foods from any nationality!! And that they love to try new things :) And the kids love to request a fresh, home made cake over getting a store bought cake. The cake was straight out of the oven, frosted and candles shoved straight in!! You can even see the frosting melting over the side in one of the pics! The only thing is that the candles melted on the ends cause the cake was so hot!! Sure did give the cake that extra bit of texture!! lol!

We love you very much Callum and I hope you had a fantastic time for your birthday!!

Awards Ceremony for Callum and Livia Term 3

Awards ceremony are the schools way of encouraging students to do their very best. Each term a new academic 'area' is selected and 4 students from each class are rewarded for the efforts throughout the term. Last term was PE, with the awards being held today. Livia received a third place and Callum received a well done :)

The girls have done well for themselves with awards ceremonies, Livia has had two 1st this year and Aliya has had a 2nd and a 1st. Poor Ali was upset at not getting anything for term 3, but once she was reminded there was still a term to go, she brightened up :) Callum, while cleaver, doesn't like to go that extra mile with his school work, so doesn't get academic awards unless its for PE :)

I'm so proud of my kids :) I love hearing their names being called out at awards especially when all 3 get called up :) Makes this Mummy proud!!!

ps i was trying to get them to pose for the photo but their class mates were ribbing them!!!! Too funny!!! Guess their getting too old for that sort of stuff hey!?!

My youngest darling daughter Kaydence

Now that Kaydence can roll ova this is what she likes to do best, sleep on her belly! She is my 5th child and 3rd daughter. I could not imagine life without her! Kaydence is 4 mths old here! She was born on the 15th October 2009 @ 3.27pm weighing in at 3190g, head circumference 35.5cm and length 51cm :) PERFECT!

She is adored by everyone, even by big brother Callum (10) who declared when we announced the pregnancy "Argh! Not another cry baby!!". Typical boys! lol! But when it comes down to it, Callum was the first one to come rushing in to the hospital room to snatch her from me for first cuddles!! We actually had to tell him to settle down and wait a moment for me to say hi to everyone as it had only been a few hours since my caesarean!! I think he likes the idea of having a sister who doesn't annoying him! lol!

Its sad to think that when Callum leaves home Kaydee will only be 8 or so and they won't be 'growing up' with each other as such. I can't believe that I have a 10 yr age gap between my eldest and youngest child! Mind boggling!

I'm not religious in any way and it had taken me a good many years to realise that children are a blessing, and that no one should ever forget that!
